The Cycle One Extended program is designed to give students the opportunity learn the academic content in cycle 1 over three (3) years instead of over two (2) years as in the General Education Program.
Admittance into the Cycle One Extended program is based on recommendation of teachers and administrators who have identified students whom they feel such students could benefit from an extra year in Cycle One and generally have the potential to be successful in the General Program after completion. Once parents are contacted and have given consent, then students are selected to be enrolled in the program. The maximum number of student places at each level of the program does not exceed 21 students.
Cycle One Extended program takes into consideration the need for students to develop skills and abilities that facilitate their learning both academically and socially. To ensure greatest success for students, the program focuses on the individual needs of the student. Also, through various fundraising activities and school community projects, the Cycle One Extended program helps to increase the sense of belonging in the high school milieu.
