Heritage Regional High School is an authorized IB World School and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) enjoys a long standing tradition here. Since 1996, the IBMYP at HRHS has provided a framework of learning that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. Our dedicated and IB-trained staff focus on intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. Additionally, this program fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement--essential qualities for young people who are becoming global leaders. We provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need in order to manage complexity and take responsible action for the future. Essentially our aim is to deliver a balanced and challenging curriculum that serves to meet the needs of the whole child; intellectually, physically and emotionally.

At HRHS, we provide a nurturing environment where how students learn is just as important as what they learn about themselves and the world around them.  IB learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. The IBMYP requires the study of at least two languages (language of instruction and additional language of choice) to support students in understanding their own cultures and those of others.  At each grade, we offer two levels of French (French Enriched and francais (langue maternelle)).  In addition, we proudly offer a third language, enrolling students in two years of Spanish classes, beginning in Secondary 1.

Fundamental to the MYP is Service as Action (SA).  This emphasis on principled action empowers students to participate in service both within our school and the wider HRHS community.  Students at each grade level are required to to serve their community with volunteer hours and to reflect on that experience.  In Secondary 1 to 5 students are encouraged to do 10 to 15 hours of service throughout the school year.    As an accredited IB World School, we have adopted the fundamental goal to ensure that our IB students become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
