What is the IB mission?

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

The programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

How can I join IB?

  • Students who are currently in Secondary 1-4 may apply to IB. We encourage you and your parents to contact the IB coordinators for information about the IB programme.
  • Parents of grade 6 students are invited to contact the IB coordinators directly for any questions regarding programme curriculum and admission procedures. Information about program application is available on the school website as of mid-September.

Heritage Regional High School is an authorized IB World School and offers the Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) to levels 1 to 5. Since 1996, the IBMYP at HRHS has provided a framework of learning that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

Our dedicated and IB-trained staff focus on intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world.

Additionally, this program fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement – essential qualities for young people who are becoming global leaders. We provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need in order to manage complexity and take responsible action for the future. Our aim is to deliver a balanced and challenging curriculum that serves to meet the needs of the whole child; intellectually, physically and emotionally.

At HRHS, we provide a nurturing environment where how students learn is just as important as what they learn about themselves and the world around them. IB learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.
